OUR STORY
MACAT GROUP was born from a deeply personal realisation:
That progress should not come at the expense of human connection, dignity, and belonging.
After decades leading complex international projects across industries ranging from textiles and shipbuilding to defence and pharmaceuticals, MACAT’s founder returned to Portugal with a different vision for the future — one centred not only on systems and infrastructure but also on people.
Having lived and worked across Portugal, Dubai, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, and Switzerland, she has focused her career on project management and transformations: from the construction of the Burj Khalifa to billion-dollar naval programs, financial restructuring, business and technological transformation initiatives across global industries.
Yet the most meaningful lesson emerged outside boardrooms and shipyards. Returning to Portugal during her father’s final chapter of life brought a profound shift in perspective. It revealed both the beauty and fragility of ageing, community, and human support systems — and highlighted the growing challenges many people face around loneliness, wellbeing, and meaningful connection.
Those experiences became the foundation for MACAT GROUP.
What began as an early concept for a small regenerative community eventually evolved into a broader ecosystem of projects focused on nourishment, companionship, healthy ageing, and intentional living.
The name MACAT itself reflects that philosophy: family vision built across generations — combining “MAC” from the family surname Macedo and “CAT” from her daughter Catarina.
Together, they represent two generations united by a shared belief: that the future should feel more human.
